Ivins gets a free night of big-band jazz this month. According to Tuacahn, the U.S. Navy Band Commodores perform at the outdoor amphitheatre on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, and Tuacahn says ticket reservations are required.

Who they are

Tuacahn describes the Commodores as the Navy’s premier jazz ensemble. The group has performed big-band jazz for the Navy and the nation for more than 50 years. Formed in 1969, the 18-member band continues that big-band legacy. Their mission, per Tuacahn, includes public concerts, national concert tours, ceremonial support in honoring veterans, jazz education classes and clinics, and protocol performances for high-level military and civilian government officials.

What to know before you go

November evenings in the red-rock canyon cool off quickly after sunset, so bring a jacket. The same Saturday is also when Snow Canyon Drive sees a morning race closure tied to the half marathon, and Follow the Flag is on display at Snow Canyon that week—plan your drive with that in mind if you’re coming from across town.

Why it matters for Ivins

A free concert by a national military jazz ensemble, right in our backyard amphitheatre, is the kind of community night that makes living in Ivins feel rare. Neighbors, veterans and visitors can share an evening of music under the cliffs without a ticket price getting in the way.
